SPANG: A Command-line Client Supporting Query Generation for Distributed SPARQL Endpoints

چکیده
An increasing number of biological databases have been made available in the form of RDF that are accessible through SPARQL endpoints. These endpoints offer a valuable opportunity to utilize the RDF datasets as integrative databases. However, writing a SPARQL query often becomes a burden for biologists; thus, an easy-to-use querying tool for the SPARQL endpoints is necessary. Here, we developed SPANG, a command-line SPARQL client supporting query generation. SPANG can dynamically generate typical SPARQL queries according to the commandline arguments. SPANG can also use SPARQL templates existing in local system or on the Web. Further, SPANG allows a user to combine multiple queries, each with distinct target endpoints, via Unix pipe. These features enable easy access to RDF datasets through SPARQL endpoints, and enhance the integrative analysis of various biological data distributed across the Web. SPANG is freely available from http://purl.org/net/spang.

SHEPHERD: A Shipping-Based Query Processor to Enhance SPARQL Endpoint Performance
Recent studies reveal that publicly available SPARQL endpoints exhibit significant limitations in supporting real-world applications. In order for this querying infrastructure to reach its full potential, more flexible client-server architectures capable of deciding appropriate shipping plans are needed. Shipping plans indicate how the execution of query operators is distributed between the cli...
متن کاملPLANET: Query Plan Visualizer for Shipping Policies against Single SPARQL Endpoints
Shipping policies allow for deciding whether a query should be executed at the server, the client or distributed among these two. Given the limitations of public SPARQL endpoints, selecting appropriate shipping plans is crucial for successful query executions without harming the endpoint performance. We present PLANET, a query plan visualizer for shipping strategies against a single SPARQL endp...

متن کاملAdaptive Integration of Distributed Semantic Web Data
The use of RDF (Resource Description Framework) data is a cornerstone of the Semantic Web. RDF data embedded in Web pages may be indexed using semantic search engines, however, RDF data is often stored in databases, accessible via Web Services using the SPARQL query language for RDF, which form part of the Deep Web which is not accessible using search engines. This paper addresses the problem o...
متن کاملTowards Equivalences for Federated SPARQL Queries
The most common way for exposing RDF data on the Web is by means of SPARQL endpoints. These endpoints are Web services that implement the SPARQL protocol and then allow end users and applications to query just the RDF data they want. However the servers hosting the SPARQL endpoints restrict the access to the data by limiting the amount of results returned by user queries or the amount of querie...
